Thinking Of Starting A Label?
For anyone wanting to set up their own label, or even wanting to release their own track, we all know it can be difficult. Thankfully, the guys at The Association Of Independent Music (AIM) have assembled a fantastic guide to help teach you the basic steps of how to start a record label.
What Does The Guide Cover?
The short guide gives guidance on:
- How To Write A Business Plan For Your Label
- Funding for your Label
- Where To Generate Income
- How To Keep Fixed Costs Low
- What Associations you need to join
And much more.
Who’s It For?
The advice found can be useful for those starting a label, wanting to release their own music, or those simply interested in how everything works. I see it as being beneficial, especially, to band’s attempting to release their own music. The need for a lead time on releases is often overlooked, as well as the importance of advertising your product. As with most things in the music industry, this guide reminds us that you need to invest before seeing any return. This can be off-putting to many bands, who maybe lack the initial funds.
